These five South MS restaurants fail health inspection, two for bugs or rodents present
Five restaurants or delis in South Mississippi failed their health department inspection over the last two weeks, with one failing for the third time with persistent sewage issues.
They include:
El Rincon Restaurant, 15701 Lemoyne Blvd., Biloxi, was inspected Aug. 9 for a permit renewal. It had six violations, four of which were corrected during the inspection.
It was cited for:
▪ Food not separated and protected (repeat)
▪ Food contact surface not cleaned and sanitized (repeat)
Corrected during the inspection were:
▪ Proper hot holding temperatures
▪ Proper cold holding temperatures
▪ Adequate hand washing facilities supplied and accessible
▪ Toxic substance properly identified, stored, used
This is the first C dating back to 2019.
Chick-N-Wang, 538 Division St., Biloxi, was inspected Aug. 10 for a permit. It was cited for:
▪ Insects, rodents or animals present
Corrected during the inspection were:
▪ Toxic substance properly identified, stored, used
▪ Adequate hand washing facilities supplied and accessible
It was reinspected Aug. 15 and got a B when all the violations were corrected.
This is the first C dating back to 2021.
El Sabor Costeno, 220 Eisenhower Drive, Biloxi, got its third C in just over a month.
The restaurant had seven violations, six of which were corrected during the inspection on July 13. It was cited for sewage waste water not properly disposed.
At a follow-up inspection on Aug. 3, the restaurant again scored a C when the sewage waste water issue was not corrected.
The wastewater violation was still not corrected at another follow-up inspection Aug. 7.
Wayne Lee’s Deli, 12109 Mississippi 63 South, Lucedale, had a scheduled inspection Aug. 17. It was cited for:
▪ Insects, rodents or animals present
▪ Last inspection results not posted
Corrected during the inspection was proper hot holding temperatures.
This was the first C since 2019.
Big P Food Mart, 19191 Commission Road, Long Beach, was inspected Aug. 7 for a permit. It was cited for:
▪ No certified manager
▪ Last inspection results not posted.
This was the first C dating back to 2021.
Restaurants and other food service establishments in Mississippi are rated “A” if they pass the health department inspection, “B” if violations are corrected during the inspection, and “C” if the violations are critical.
Since Aug. 5, there have been 110 restaurants in South Mississippi that scored an A for no violations and 20 that got a B when violations were corrected during the inspection.
