Restaurant News & Reviews

These restaurants have the best margaritas on the Mississippi Coast, according to locals

People like to claim the Deep South has only two seasons, summer and winter. This isn’t really true. Our slice of life on the Gulf Coast is home to a wide variety of seasonal change.

We do have spring, we also have tornado season, pollen season, hurricane season, hunting season and football season. We even have finally-cool-enough-to-drink-the-water-bottle-you-left-in-your-car-for-six-months season.

One of my personal favorites lasts from January to December, roughly. That’s margarita season. And May through July is peak ‘rita season.

Luckily for me and my fellow South Mississippians, we have no shortage of margaritas to fill our evenings with (or days, no judging here).

We asked readers on Facebook and Instagram where their favorite margarita places are and took to Yelp.com to aggregate some more popular ‘rita joints.

Whether you’re looking for a hangout spot with friends, a compliment to a Mexican dish or to go four-deep and mock the sun’s summer rays with your newfound tequila-induced invincibility, this list should have you covered.

Here are the top rated spots, according to you:

We start the list with a classic. A Bay St. Louis and Biloxi favorite, the cucumber cilantro margarita is a popular choice among visitors. The Blind Tiger has an excellent and diverse drink menu that also features two more unique margs with the Blue Lagoon and Top Shelf margaritas.

In Greek mythology, nectar was used by the gods to retain their immortality. Somehow, Bacchus on the Beach was able to obtain some (though this didn’t work out so well for Tantalus). They turned the drink into a margarita and named it the Nectar of the Gods. I can’t promise you immortality upon intake, but I can promise you’ll have a great time drinking it.

The price of the marg has gone up. The famous $5 margaritas are no more at Woody’s, instead costing you $6 a glass. Still a great price, though, and the $5 margs can be had during happy hour. In my experience, Woody’s does exceptionally well with the more non-traditional flavors like raspberry and mango. They also do not skimp out on the tequila.

El Aguila is high on my priority list of restaurants I absolutely need to try and strong reviews and responses from our readers only raise it higher on that list. The Gulfport establishment serves house margs at $7 each and offers top shelf options, as well.

Another fan favorite Mexican spot, El Saltillo gets strong reviews for both its food and its generous margaritas, which also come in frozen form.

Who woulda thought? Probably you. Margaritas serves ... margaritas! Pop in on Thursday for $3.99 margaritas or 10 percent off top shelf ritas.

Known for their large portions, big lobsters and loads of crabs, the high-end seafood restaurant in Kiln does a lot of things right. That, of course, includes their margaritas.

Here are other spots that are top rated for their margaritas.
