3 restaurants across South Mississippi cited in health department inspections

Three Mississippi Coast restaurants failed their inspections by the Mississippi Health Department between April 11 and May 19, compared to seven in January, 10 in February and six in March.

The three cited for critical violations are:

Bumpers Drive-In, Wiggins, 1117 East Frontage Road, Wiggins, had a scheduled inspection May 19. The restaurant was cited for:

Improper eating, tasting, drinking or tobacco use

Improper hot holding temperatures

Improper date marking And disposition

All three are repeat offenses.

The restaurant has had three Cs since 2020.

Restaurants and other food service establishments in Mississippi are rated “A” if they pass the health department inspection, “B” if violations are corrected during the inspection, and “C” if the violations are critical.

Murky Waters, Bay St. Louis at 126 Main St. had a scheduled inspection May 15.

The restaurant was cited for having no certified manager.

Corrected during the inspection were: Hands clean and properly washed and Insects, and also rodents or animals not present.

The only two previous inspections at the restaurant were As, with no violations.

Reno’s Sports Bar, 9994 Rodriguez St., D’Iberville, was inspected April 11 for a permit.

The restaurant was cited for

Contact surface not cleaned and sanitized

Substance not properly identified, stored and used

A follow-up inspection was conducted the next day, when all violations were corrected and the restaurant got a B.

This is the first C dating back to 2020.
