Popular brunch spot Blue Dog Bistro is opening soon in Gulfport. Here are the details.

A second location of Blue Dog Bistro opens Tuesday in Gulfport for those who crave blueberry ricotta pancakes or the restaurant’s sweet potato chips.

The Gulfport breakfast and brunch restaurant opens from 7 a.m. -3 p.m. at 8829 Lorraine Road, just north of the Bernard Bayou Bridge in Gulfport. Blue Dog will be close to Flamingo Landing, which is opening soon on the water.

“Get ready for the same delicious brunch options and a cozy atmosphere in a new location,” the Facebook post says. ”Don’t miss where brunch happens on The Coast.”

The original location on Government Street in Ocean Springs was founded by Joshua Lord. The company website says Blue Dog Bistro is named for Joshua and his wife Amber Lord’s love for Blue Staffordshire Terriers and their dog Blue Bell, who died of cancer.

The breakfast and lunch menus are divided into “Good Dog” and “Bad Dog” entries, although both the healthy and splurges include selections for vegetarian, keto, vegan, gluten free and other diets.

The menus have choices that could be called “dressed,” like the fruit and yogurt bowl topped with local honey and mint or the smoked salmon lox bagel with capers and fresh dill.

For lunch are lettuce leaf tacos, pasta primavera, chargrilled barbecue salmon and or go for the ultimate comfort food with a baked pimento cheese skillet.

“We are inspired by the growing desire to eat healthily,” the website says, “and we believe that by creating a unique menu with a delicious variety of nutritious options we can promote a wholesome way of living.”
