Beachfront seafood restaurant closes after 20 years on the MS Coast. ‘Truly a loss.’
A beloved seafood restaurant in Long Beach is closing its doors after 20 years in business.
The owners of Cajun Crawfish Hut announced the permanent closure and their retirement Tuesday on Facebook.
“We want to thank all of our customers in Long Beach and Gulfport and those who traveled even further for the last 20 years,” the post said. “Thank you to our regular customers who we had the joy of seeing almost every day. Thank you to our team members and our previous team members.”
The owners also thanked the city in their post, which has received hundreds of comments from customers.
“Truly a loss to our city!” one diner said. “You will be missed ... I wish you the very happiest and well earned retirement.”
Customer Susan Collins said she and her husband, Fred, have been eating at Cajun Crawfish Hut since the day the doors opened. Back then, the now beachfront restaurant was on Railroad Street.
“Y’all have the best crawfish on the Coast,” Collins said on Facebook.
Others shared their favorite menu items they fear they won’t get to eat again, like the shrimp salad and the gumbo.
Cajun Crawfish Hut joins other Coast restaurants that have closed in the last few months. Layla’s Coffeehouse and sandwich shop on Pass Road is no longer in business and Cajun Gourmet in Long Beach will close by the end of March.
The future of the building has not yet been announced.
