Health department cites 3 MS Coast restaurants during inspection, one for bugs or rodents
Mississippi Health Department wrote up four restaurants and eateries in South Mississippi for violations over the last three weeks, one which was inspected after a complaint.
They are:
El Saltillo 5 Bar, 115 N. Cleveland Ave., Long Beach. The bar that sells packaged food was inspected Jan. 3 following a complaint. The inspector found insects, rodents or animals present. This is the first C dating back to 2013.
Pearlington Rockets Express, 156504 U.S. 90 in Pearlington, had a scheduled inspection Jan. 5. The fast food facility got a C for not having a certified manager, a repeat violation. Corrected during the inspection was adequate hand washing facilities supplied and accessible. This was the first C dating back to 2019.
Pearlington Bayou Grocery, Deli & Restaurant at 5364 Mississippi 604 in Pearlington had a scheduled inspection Jan. 5. The fast food facility got a C for not having a certified manager. Corrected during the inspection was adequate hand washing facilities supplied and accessible. The restaurant also had a C in July for not having a certified manager and three other violations.
Restaurants and other food service establishments in Mississippi are rated “A” if they pass the health department inspection, “B” if violations are corrected during the inspection, and “C” if the violations are critical.
Since Dec. 18 there have been 137 restaurants that scored an A for no violations and 17 that got a B when violations were corrected during the inspection.
