Captain D’s seafood restaurant opens on the MS Coast. Here are the details.
Captain D’s fast casual seafood restaurant now is open in South Mississippi.
The restaurant at 11487 U.S. 49 just opened north of the Walmart Neighborhood Market in Orange Grove. The site previously was a Church’s Chicken.
It is the only Captain D’s restaurant operating in South Mississippi and the 30th in the state. A Captain D’s was located near Hardy Court on Pass Road in Gulfport before Hurricane Katrina.
The Captain D’s menu features individual and family meals, fried and grilled seafood and appetizers, sides and desserts. The brand is known for its regular and spicy batter dipped fish, its cajun catfish sandwich, lobster rolls and Southern-style sweet tea.
Grilled shrimp or wild caught salmon are among the entrees for those eating light and chicken for adults and kids is on the menu for those who don’t eat seafood.
The restaurant has seating for 55 and also has drive-thru, carry out and call-ahead ordering by calling 228-678-2430. Hours are 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and until 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
This latest conversion of former restaurant space into the seafood franchise was completed by Chris Benner of Trident Holdings. Benner and his business partner, Tim Stokes, joined Captain D’s in 2015 and have grown to become the largest operators in the brand’s franchise network with 47 restaurants in their portfolio. The franchise is headquartered in Nashville.
“Captain D’s has been very supportive of our growth, providing the expertise we need to expand into new markets like Gulfport,” said Benner. “Our guests love our food and hospitality, and we love serving them,” he said.
