Where are the best hidden gem restaurants on the MS Coast? Help our new reporter find them.
Hello, South Mississippi! I’m Jessica Patterson, and I’m the Sun Herald’s new intern reporter focusing on food, fun and living your best life on the Coast.
I am a Mississippi Gulf Coast native and am a senior at the University of South Alabama in Mobile studying strategic communications and psychology. I graduate in December 2022, and I cannot express how excited I am to walk across that stage. My love for public relations, film and journalism resonates in my hobbies outside of work because I love to watch new movies, read new books, try new foods and travel to different places.
Here are some other things you should know about me:
I began my college career at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community college in 2018. I was a student leader and president of the Reflections team my sophomore year.
While at MGCCC, I was selected for Hall of Fame, Who’s Who and was selected Miss Jackson County.
My favorite color is emerald green, I do not know how to ride a bicycle, and I love K-Pop music.
I am an introvert and love personality tests. I am considered a mediator, and these personalities are known as quiet, open-minded and imaginative.
One of my biggest passions is food and local culture, and this new role at the Sun Herald is right up my alley. I can’t wait to tell stories of the Coast’s food and dining scene with readers.
For my first assignment, I really want to explore local hidden gem restaurants that locals love. And I need your help.
Share your favorite Mississippi Coast restaurants that may not be well-known but are delicious and hidden in plain sight. From Bay St. Louis to Biloxi to Pascagoula and beyond, I want to hear about them all. Tell me about your favorite dive bars, mom and pop eateries and gas station foods, too.
I will also try some of the most popular responses soon and let you know my thoughts.
Cheers! Take our survey now at sunherald.com.
