The Wok bowl and Asian dishes steal the show at this Biloxi casino buffet

I rarely eat at casino buffets.

As a Coast resident who really isn’t that much of a seafood person, it didn’t make sense for me to pay the price of buffets for the large selections of seafood.

I understand the price was great for lovers of crab legs and other delicacies, but $35-$45 was too high for me to get a plate or two and a few desserts.

That’s why I was really excited to try the Palace Buffet inside Palace Casino in Biloxi last Friday.

Only seven casinos offer buffets after the COVID-19 pandemic, and many now offer more affordable pricing if crab legs aren’t on the menu. For just $17, the Palace’s buffet was a steal, not a deal. The casino being smoke free is an added bonus.

The buffet area was impeccably clean and the styling was modern yet comfortable. One wall of windows let natural light bleed in, which is rare at a casino.

The buffet was full and fresh. I was impressed by the massive soup, salad and dessert spread in the center.

My co-worker Jesse Lieberman and I set out to try as much as we could. Here were the highlights for us:

  • Jesse loved the crab tater tots from the seafood station. There was a large selection of shrimp, fish and sides for those who really wanted dishes from the sea.
  • The mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese and cheese-stuffed sausage were standouts as well. The Southern sides were both creamy and had perfect hints of garlic and were seasoned to perfection.
  • The best dishes, in my opinion, were at the Asian stations. The pot stickers were crispy and fresh, and sweet and sour sauce was tangy. The egg drop soup was some of the best I’ve ever had. You could add fried wontons and green onions for nice texture.

Another cool experience at the Palace Buffet is the Wok station. You can choose proteins, sauces, a starch like rice or lo mein noodles and veggies and a chef cooks it in front of you on a huge grill. It’s finished in a wok bowl.

I got a bowl with beef and chicken, rice noodles, peanut sauce and chili garlic sauce. It took less than 10 minutes to prepare and was worth the $17 I spent alone. I would 100% go back just for a wok bowl.

More than 65,000 voted the Palace Buffet as the best casino buffet on the Coast, and it’s now easy to see why.
