Top-rated Biloxi casino steakhouse has a new summer menu and killer views. What to order.
The Coast is well endowed with fine dining establishments, but Thirty-Two at the IP Casino Resort in Biloxi is in a class all its own.
The attribute that really makes Thirty-Two stand out is the spectacular view looking both north toward the Biloxi Back Bay and South to the beach. If you are lucky enough to get reservations for sunset, you are going to be treated to as view like no other as the city lights twinkle on and the sun goes down over the Gulf of Mexico.
If you have been to Thirty-Two before, you may assume that not much has changed, but you would be mistaken. Executive Chef Shannon Johnson has redesigned the menu that includes 15 new dishes with a summertime theme, with special attention to the vegetables and fruits that are coming into season.
Watermelon, sweet corn, heirloom tomatoes, yellow peppers, potatoes and many more all contribute to making this menu light and perfect for a hot Mississippi summer evening’s meal.
There are nine appetizers to choose from, four of which are new.
The foie gras is normally my choice. The new dishes include chargrilled octopus, tender and delicious, served with a sweet corn-miso puree, blistered shishito peppers, black garlic tare and furikake (both Japanese condiments), and gnocchi, one of my favorite comfort foods, served with braised rabbit ragout (chef Johnson was a hunter in Louisiana as a kid), house made Tasso and andouille sausage, spring onions, arugula, grana padano and sauce piquant. This dish has lots of Louisiana influences that add an extra zip.
If you are a beef eater, Thirty-Two is famous for its steaks. If you think you have had really good steak, trying the Japanese A5 strip just might change your mind. It is the best beef I have ever restaurant on the Coast. Thirty-Two is also a AAA Four Diamond rated restaurant.
There are six seafood dishes on the menu, four of which are new. The pan seared scallops were my favorite, served with grilled corn salad (another summertime touch), smoked sweet potato mousseline, house made merguez sausage and chermoula (a north African condiment). The red snapper barigoule was also amazing.
Other house specialties include Joyce Farms half roasted chicken, pan roasted duck breast and pork chops.
Thirty-Two’s creativity and wonderful attention to detail is simple remarkable, along with it’s stunning view of Biloxi and the beach, this place gets my vote as the most romantic fine dining.
