Coast Mexican and pizza restaurants among 6 cited by health dept. for critical violations

Six restaurants and fast food establishments have failed their health inspection in the last two weeks in South Mississippi.

La Nortena, 244 Porter Ave., Biloxi, was inspected March 4 for a permit. The restaurant was cited for not having a certified manager and for inadequate hand washing facilities supplied and accessible.

The last C at the restaurant was in 2018.

Legends Exxon at 6436 Mississippi 57, Ocean Springs, had a scheduled inspection on March 4. The food service was cited for not having a certified manager and not having a person in charge present who demonstrates knowledge and performs duty.

The facility also had a C in 2021 for not having a certified manager.

Golden Oak Assisted Living at 14308 Lemoyne Blvd., Biloxi, was inspected March 4 for a permit. The facility was cited for not having adequate hand washing facilities supplied and accessible, a repeat offense.

This is the first C dating back to 2020. A follow-up inspection on March 15 showed all issues were corrected and the kitchen scored a B.

Little Caesars Pizza at 2025 Pass Road, Biloxi, was inspected for a permit on March 15, after receiving a B on Feb. 22. It was cited for not having food contact surface cleaned and sanitized, a repeat offense.

That issue and not having toxic substance properly identified, stored and used were corrected during the Feb. 22 inspection.

The last C was in 2018.

Sai Chevron at 8413 Woolmarket Road in Biloxi had a scheduled inspection on March 18. The food service had no certified manager and improper date marking and disposition. It also was cited for inadequate hand washing facilities supplied and accessible, a repeat offense.

Corrected during the inspection was incorrect hot holding temperatures.

The last C at the facility was in 2018.

Super C, 12515 Three Rivers Oak, Gulfport, was inspected March 17 following a complaint. It is new construction and had no prior inspections or permits. It was cited for not having a permit posted.

Restaurants and other food service establishments in Mississippi are rated “A” if they pass the health department inspection, “B” if violations are corrected during the inspection, and “C” if the violations are critical.

Between March 3-18, inspectors have given 178 As to restaurants in South Mississippi and 15 Bs, in addition to these six Cs.
