Mardi Gras is in full swing on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, with thousands lining the streets for weekend parades and others dancing the night away at glitzy balls.

But there’s one thing that brings everyone together in South Mississippi during the holiday season — king cake.

The delicious pastry can be sweet or savory, and businesses and bakeries on the Coast often put their own unique spin on the Mardi Gras delicacy.
