BoHo Biloxi Social House describes itself as “a wine and cheese social area with a light menu.”

But the business goes on to say it’s “a trendy wine bar located in downtown Biloxi offering wine, bubbly flights, made to order charcuterie, small plates and daily specials.” This is a much more descriptive image of this lovely little place, and every word rings true.

It is a small space, with just a few tables inside and a few more on the sidewalk out front. It’s a good place to people watch, as this part of growing Howard Avenue is busy. In fact, its beginning to feel like the center of town it used to be.

But this place is all about the gathering of friends and sharing of good things. Walk into BoHo and you will immediately feel comfortable. It’s intimate, so it’s a good place to gather for a glass of wine or early evening snack. The staff is friendly and eager to make you visit a pleasant one, so, do linger.

The menu is small, as it should be in a wine bar. There are four appetizers to start with, all classics and all good. The house-made spinach artichoke dip would be a good place to start, as it’s a dish that can be shared. There is also a hot crab dip (always a crowd pleaser), chips and salsa, and the crabtini (think crab on toast points) looks amazing.

There are also three entrees to choose from: blackened chicken tacos, shrimp and grits, and a BoHo BLT. There are also a couple of desserts and salads on the menu, but what is really going to turn your head on this menu are the charcuterie boards. There are five to choose from, all artfully arranged and named.

Check out the Just You and Me, sized for two; the Char Cutie, for two to four; and the Board Meeting, enough for four to eight. The Drawing Board, which is a design your own board that includes two cheeses, two meats and accompaniments is also a good idea. The last option is the Surf Board, which includes salmon, two cheeses, two meats and avocado crostini. Also check out the daily specials, like the jambalaya I had on my visit.

The wine menu is extensive, with close to three dozen wines and champagne to choose from. You will find everything from pinot noir, merlot, chardonnay, to rosé. There is also a daily happy hour from 4 to 6 p.m., with specials like $5 house wines and $10 bottomless mimosas.

What you are going to find at BoHo is a very cool place to share good food and wine with good friends. It really is unique in Biloxi, comfortable, and a bit trendy, but in a very relaxed sort of way. Don’t come here in a hurry, because you are going to have way too much.
