This new Coast deli is also a meat market with wagyu beef raised in our own backyard
If you are a beef lover, you are going to think providence has arrived.
If you just love a good deli, then this is your lucky day as well.
4 Bulls Meats Seafood & Deli is now open in Ocean Springs, and it is a full-service butcher shop, with a master butcher at the helm, and a great little deli as well.
Owner Roy McKenzie has years of experience in grocery and butcher shops and saw a need in Ocean Springs for a shop that focused on fresh quality meats and a top-notch deli.
The meat market is the most extensive around, with many cuts you won’t find anywhere else. But the centerpiece of the meat market is the selection of South Mississippi-raised wagyu beef.
McKenzie has partnered with Stone Creek Cattle Company and Bar 2 L Wagyu to offer a shopping experience you won’t find outside a major city. The wagyu has been genetically tested by the American Wagyu Association, and has a pedigree that descends from Tajima legacy, a famous Japanese bloodline.
If you want the perfect steak or burger for the grill, this is the place.
In the cold case, you will also find house-made sausages, and some marinated and prepared meats, like bacon-wrapped asparagus. The shop also offers custom cuts and shipping.
The deli menu features sandwiches, subs, wraps, salads and muffalettas, all freshly made to your order. I tried the muffaletta and it was spot on.
The bestseller is the 4 Bulls special, made with half a pound of roast beef, Swiss cheese and Dijon mustard, on a six-inch sub. It’s a two hander!
Other bestsellers are the 4 Bulls club, regular roast beef and the house-made smoked tuna dip. There is also daily special to look out for. On the day of my visit it was The World’s Greatest Tuna Wrap with a side of chips, whole for $8.99, half $5.99.
Business is brisk, even during these trying times, and business is increasing by the day.
Surprisingly, Four Bulls is drawing customers from Pensacola to New Orleans, and even has customer as far away as Houston, Texas, that order on a regular basis.
Beef is delivered two times a day and is cut fresh daily for the display case or for custom orders.
If you don’t know much about American wagyu beef, take a moment and Google it. This is simply some of the best beef in the world, and with master butcher Roy McKenzie’s attention to detail, and passion for what he does, you would be hard pressed to find better beef in the South.
Stop by for lunch, check out the butcher shop, and even if your budget is stretched a bit thin these days, try some of the wagyu hamburger. It will change the way you think about beef.
