25+ new and improved restaurants on the Mississippi Coast for summer 2020

While South Mississippi residents were sheltered at home and ordering food to go, new restaurants were readied for opening and other restaurants moved to new locations or got a makeover.

Here is the list of many of the new, improved or coming soon restaurants across South Mississippi:

New

Newman Seafood is under construction north of MGM Park at 197 Caillavet St., Biloxi.

Shipley Do-Nuts with drive-up service will open after the conversion of a former car wash at Popp’s Ferry Road and Vee Street in Biloxi.

Papa John’s. A new location is scheduled to open in August by Kathryn and Wendell Tanner at 2402 McLaurin St., Waveland.

Goula Nutrition is open at 1809 Denny Ave., Pascagoula

Aztecas Restaurante and Cantina opened another location at 1618 Bienville Blvd., Ocean Springs

Chicken Salad Chick. A second Coast location is opening soon at 10490 U.S. 49 in Gulfport.

Zaxby’s is opening this summer at 4032 Promenade Parkway in D’Iberville.

A new seafood restaurant, ship store and fuel dock is coming to 4100 Clark St., Pascagoula. ($200,000 building permit)

A new restaurant is coming at 8813 Lorraine Road, Gulfport ($250,000 permit)

Moved:

Papa John’s Pizza has moved east to a new building 3612 Bienville Blvd., Ocean Springs ($3.9 million building permit)

Smoothie King also has moved east to a new building at 2708 Bienville Blvd. in Ocean Springs, and now has a drive-up window.

Daiquiri Shak is moving to a new location on Court Street in Bay St. Louis.

Killer Crab & Seafood purchased a new location at 5116 Gautier Vancleave Road in Gautier, according to Mayor Phil Torjusen

Improved:

Renovation of Koi Sushi, 9442 U.S. 49, Gulfport ($25,000 permit)

Renovation of McDonald’s, 1323 Bienville Blvd., Ocean Springs ($466,000 permit)

Shell for cafe/salon, 6005 Washington Ave., Ocean Springs ($55,000 permit)

Taco South, 12261 U.S. 49, Gulfport ($45,000 permit)

Scranton’s Restaurant and Catering in downtown Pascagoula is undergoing interior and exterior renovations.

Pop Brothers announced on social media it has a new blue food truck that came from Chicago.

Many restaurants have more outdoor seating, including Sal & Mookie’s, in the shade under the building in downtown Biloxi

New kitchen at Edgerly Entertainment, 119 Rue Magnolia, Bilox ($240,000 permit)

Renovation for restaurant at 3026 Market St., Pascagoula ($630,000 permit)
