New Old West-style saloon, Crawfish Shack are opening at The Shed in Ocean Springs
The Coast’s TV-famous barbecue restaurant, The Shed Barbeque & Blues Joint, is debuting a new saloon and the return of the Crawfish Shack-out-Back, both down by the waters of Fort Bayou.
The grand opening is from 2- 10 p.m. Saturday at the A.O. Orrison Saloon at The Shed restaurant on Mississippi 57 in Ocean Springs. Hattiesburg’s Royal Horses band will play from 6-9 p.m.
The Crawfish Shack reopens for the season at the same time, with Jamie Hyatt playing from noon-3 p.m. The Shack is on the bayou, near the 500-foot pier where people can dock their boats. It will be open Saturdays and Sundays starting at 11 a.m.
The saloon is across from the Shed stage, and it will be open Fridays and Saturdays from 2-10 p.m.
The old west-style saloon will specialize in top shelf whiskeys and bourbons and premium champagnes and wines.
Owners Brad Orrison and sister Brooke Lewis named A.O. Orrison Saloon for their great-grandfather Alfred Oakley Orrison. He was an early entrepreneur, opening a meat market near Cripple Creek, Colorado, and delivering meat and other fresh food by horse-drawn wagon. He later moved on to Dodge City, Kansas.
Lewis said the saloon is part of the “family friendly compound” that is the Shed, where people of all ages can come and enjoy food, quality drinks and blues concerts in the afternoon and evening.
There is a playground for the kids, she said, and even pets on leashes are permitted.
The saloon will be open year-round, she said, and there is seating indoors for 21 and up and on the porch for all ages, with a front row seat to the stage.
The Shed first gained national attention in 2013 with its Food Network television show by the same name.
