Two fried chicken restaurants, Coast seafood spot cited by health department

Three fast food restaurants, two in the same franchise, were cited for health violations during the last week.

Mississippi Health Department reports these restaurants were given C ratings for critical violations:

The Moss Point location of Church’s Chicken at 3381 Main Ave. was inspected Jan. 24 and was cited for not having a certified manager, and also for insects, rodents or animals present. In January 2019, the restaurant also was given a C for insects, rodents of animals present.

Church’s Chicken at 2321 Pass Road, Gulfport, was inspected Jan. 30 following a complaint. The restaurant was cited for not having its last inspection results posted. Most restaurants post the grade from the Health Department near the door or cash register. This location has had one other C since 2011.

Labama Seafood at 10093 Central Ave., D’Iberville, was inspected Jan. 24 for a permit. The restaurant got a C for not having Time as Public Health Control Procedures Records, a repeat offense. Another violation for food separated and protected was corrected during the inspection. The restaurant had one other C from inspections dating back to 2013.

Restaurants and other food service establishments are rated A if they pass the Health Department inspection, B if violations are corrected during the inspection and C if the violations are critical.
