2 Coast casino restaurants, 3 others get C grades from health department
Five Coast restaurants were cited by the health department for critical violations between Nov. 15-25, and four were on the same day.
On Nov. 20, O’Charley’s restaurant at 10510 U.S. 49 in Gulfport was inspected following a complaint. The Mississippi Health Department inspector cited the restaurant for not having proper cold-holding temperatures, a repeat offense. Corrected during the inspection was food contact surface cleaned and sanitized. It was the first C for the restaurant since 2011.
The same day two food eateries were cited at Hard Rock Casino, 777 Beach Blvd., Biloxi. The Dunkin’ Donuts inside the casino property was inspected for a permit and was found to be out of compliance for toxic substance property identified stored and used, a repeat offense. Corrected during the inspection were adequate hand-washing facilities; food contact surface cleaned and sanitized; proper cold-holding temperatures, and insects, rodents or animals present. This was the first C at the restaurant.
A scheduled inspection at the iLov305 Bar at the Hard Rock showed a toxic substance improperly identified stored and used, a repeat offense. This was the first C since 2017.
Also on Nov. 20, there was no certified manager on site during a scheduled inspection at the Subway at 7305 Mississippi 614, Moss Point, and the last inspection grade was not posted. Corrected during the inspection were hands clean and properly washed, and food separated and protected. This was the first C since records are posted dating back to 2015.
Market Street Food Mart at 3021 Market St., Pascagoula had a scheduled inspection Nov. 15 and failed for not having a certified manager and person in charge present who demonstrates knowledge and performs duty. It also was cited for food not separated and protected. This was the first C in 2 years.
Restaurants and other food service establishments are rated A if they pass the Health Department inspection, B if violations are corrected during the inspection and C if the violations are critical.
