You have to order a drink with your dollar tacos, but that is hardly an impediment to such a great deal.
Since the restaurant is close to Keesler Air Force , the owner said that a few members of the military will order as many as seven tacos at a time. Wow!
A handful of items you might not find anywhere else are on the first page of the six-page menu.
They are all Mexican classics, and you need to dive into this selection with both hands. The tacos ($2.49) are served on corn tortillas with onions and cilantro.
The tortas ($7.99) are a Mexican-style sandwich. The huaraches ($4) are elongated flat bread piled high with your choice of protein, beans, onions, cilantro, cheese and cactus. The sopes ($3.50) are a round bread with your choice of toppings and the gordatis ($3.50) are a small stuffed masa cake. And that’s only the first page.
The rest of the menu is filled with things to delight your palate, but whatever you do take a trip to the salsa bar (it is free). Here you will find salsa verde (green and mild), salsa roja (red and spicy), sliced radices (providing a delightful crunch), pickles and jalapenos and cucumbers. Pay special attention to the salsa verde that is fortified with fresh chopped avocado and onions. This condiment is just fabulous.
