The Krewe of Diamonds disbanded after last year’s parade, but never fear, The Krewe of Real People The Next Generation will carry on the tradition in Bay St. Louis.
It is a fitting transition since the Krewe of Diamonds had picked up where the Krewe of Real People left off several years ago.
The 1 p.m. Feb. 13 parade will follow the same downtown Bay St. Louis route the Krewe of Diamonds traveled in previous years with homemade floats of four-wheelers, cyclists, cars and walkers.
The theme is Harlem Nights.
“We are more of a community organization than we are a party organization,” said Lonnie Bradley II, president of the Krewe of Real People The Next Generation.
He said the organization hosted a Christmas dinner giveaway, a school book bags program, and he said the krewe plans to concentrate on community as far as giving and part of that community spirit is hosting a parade.
The krewe also is hosting a ball from 7 p.m. to midnight on Feb. 3 at BSL Community Hall. Tickets are $25 each, and it is open to the public. Contact Bradley at 228-671-1039 for tickets to the ball or for more information.
