Thousands of revelers lined the streets of Biloxi on Tuesday despite the threat of weather.
The Gulf Coast Carnival Association Mardi Gras parade, Biloxi’s only parade on Fat Tuesday, rolled at its usual time of 1 p.m. amid windy conditions that led to time changes for parades in Hancock County.
This year was the first year the parade rolled on its new route that mostly avoids Highway 90 and stays on a long stretch of Howard Avenue.
Among the the floats, the parade featured the Biloxi High School Marching Band, Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College’s Band of Gold and the Ole Biloxi Marching Club, which is celebrating its 50th year.
This year’s parade was themed In Search of Lost Legends and Jonathan Park Allen and Hannah Elise Warren were crowned this year’s King d’Iberville and Queen Ixolib.
