When going to a parade, people hope to walk away with an amazing catch. Amanda Hoda came home from the Krewe of Nyx parade Wednesday night in New Orleans not only with a few beads, but also with a ring on her finger.
Bryce Breland and Hoda have been together for two years, and he used the parade as his chance to propose to Amanda and her daughter Mckaylin.
“Everyone was in on it,” Hoda said. “Everyone who was there that night knew except me. My sister and his brother pulled out their phones, and I thought they were just excited because his mom was riding in the parade for the first time. She’s actually the one holding the sign in the video.”
After Breland proposed to Hoda, he got back down on his knees to give the 7-year-old her own ring, similar in design to her mom’s.

“To get her something, too, just put her in everything,” Hoda said. “He’s really accepted her like she was his own. It is so special he feels that way for her. They have the best relationship.”
Hoda said Mckaylin actually went with Breland to pick out the ring two weeks prior.
“They made a little daddy-daughter day of it.”
Breland was determined to propose that night. The sign was actually the second option, and there was a third option in case that didn’t work out.
“Originally there was a banner all across the float, but with the rain that didn’t work out. Because it was the Nyx parade, his mom actually made us all purses, and my purse said ‘Will you marry me?’ on it.”
Now things are just beginning, as the family is about to have a very busy year ahead of them.
“We’re shooting for a date in March 2019. Mckaylin is so excited. She’s already trying to pick out what dress she wants.”
