This weekend will bring a deluge of ducks with a chance for cash prizes and a comedy show in South Mississippi.

The Tired Dog Rescue's Rubber Duck Derby will raise money to help find homes for dogs Saturday, and Team Whodi's Comedy Crackup will feature traveling comedians in Biloxi on Sunday.

From noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, the inaugural Rubber Duck Derby will get underway at The Dock Bar and Grill in Gulfport. A minimum of 5,000 small rubber ducks will be offered for $5 each and then dropped into Gulfport Lake where they will float to the finish line. The first duck to take the checkered flag will win $1,500 for its donor. The Rubber Duck Derby benefits the nonprofit Tired Dog Rescue, which seeks to rescue and find homes for neglected and stray dogs, especially cocker spaniels and miniature Schnauzers. Arts-and-crafts vendors, door prizes, live entertainment, silent auction and children's activities are all part of the fun. Award-winning Elvis tribute artist Brandon Bennett and local band Blondefire will perform.

At 6:30 p.m. Sunday, the doors will open at Biloxi's Level Nightclub for the Comedy Crackup, which will feature comedians T-Ray Sanders of Atlanta, Jermaine "Funnymaine" Johnson of Birmingham, Ala., C. Richaude "Corey Dorsey" of Gulfport and the night's host, Whodi. DJ AL Reese will spin tunes. The cost is $15 in advance and $20 at the door. Whodi, with the help of his Team Whodi, features nationally touring comedians every fourth Sunday in Biloxi. Details: (727) 410-5159.
