Volunteers welcome to help spread Christmas cheer
The week of Christmas is finally here, and coastal residents are preparing to offer Christmas fare and a little holiday spirit to those in need during South Mississippi's holiday meal programs.
Feed My Sheep's annual Christmas lunch for the homeless and needy will open from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Christmas Eve at 2615 19th St., Gulfport. The soup kitchen will be closed on Christmas Day. Details/volunteer opportunities: feedmysheepgulfport.org.
On Christmas Day, volunteers wishing to assist the Gulf Coast Public Safety Feed the Needy Program should begin arriving at the Lyman Community Center in Gulfport at 8 a.m. to help package and deliver meals to local residents. Both supply and monetary donations to the program are welcome, but please mail monetary donations to Gulf Coast Law Enforcement Feed the Needy, Attn: Lt. Mike Shaw, 2220 15th St., Gulfport, MS. 39501. For donation questions, call 868-5703.
Also on Christmas Day, the Gulf Coast Rescue Mission's annual Christmas meal will begin from noon to 4 p.m. at 2750 Mission Lane, Biloxi. Takeout meals will be available, and volunteers are welcome. Details: 388-3884 or 388-6364.
