Negrotto's Gallery hosts Artwork through March

Negrotto's Gallery, 2645 Executive Place, Biloxi, will hold the first Group Show for the South Mississippi Art League through March 31. Members of the SMAL include Pat Abernathy, Carolyn Busenlener, Paulette Dove, Kat Fitzpatrick, JJ Foley, Sandra Halat, Stacey Johnson, Patt Odom, George Ann McCullough, Cissy Quinn, Julia Reyes and Norma Seward. The exhibit will feature selected works by each.

Seafood Festival kicks off poster and T-shirt contest

The Mississippi Gulf Coast Chamber of Commerce will accept entries for the 35th annual Biloxi Seafood Festival's poster and T-shirt contest through May 18. The theme will be a celebration of the history and heritage of the seafood and maritime industry.

There is no entry fee to enter. The winning artwork will be unveiled 8 a.m. July 20 and the artist of the winning design will be awarded $500, five free shirts and 10 unsigned posters.

Blessing of the Fleet poster contest accepting entries

The Biloxi Blessing of the Fleet Festival committee is accepting artwork for the poster and T-shirt design contest through April 1.

The Blessing of the Fleet Festival will be held June 4-5.

Artwork themes include Biloxi's shrimping industry; the heritage of Biloxi and the Blessing of the Fleet; and St. Michael Catholic Church. The winner will receive $500.

Bay High students place in state art competition

Seven Bay High art students were recognized for their creative work during the Scholastic Art and Writing Program.

Chosen from over 1,800 entries statewide, four of those students garnered top awards including regional awards.

Awards: Regional Gold Key winner for oil painting, Grace Powell; Silver Key winner in painting, Alyssa D'Bonaventura; participation in painting award, Abbey Riley and Jaime Hirstius; and participation in photography, Damian Crawford. Marion Pohl and Landon Brady were honorable mention winners for photography.
