Art House hosts 'Something New, Something Old'

The Art House, 921 Cash Alley, Ocean Springs, will host an art reception titled "Something New, Something Old" by Rita Meadows through March 25.

Meadows, a native of Amsterdam, has lived in Ocean Springs since 1974.

The Art House is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Amour Danzar offers workshops, lessons

Amour Danzar Ballroom, 9255 County Farm Road, Gulfport, is holding a variety of dance lessons and workshops in March.

Programs include 45-minute dance lessons with Al De Salvo and an informal dance lesson, and country two-step and West Coast swing workshops with Todd Longsworth and Jamie Hoyt.

'Is He Dead' will play at Biloxi Little Theatre

Biloxi Little Theatre, 220 Lee St., will feature "Is He Dead" at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 2 p.m. Sunday and 8 p.m. March 17-19. "Is He Dead" was written by Mark Twain and will be directed by Cliff Thompson.

Cost: $15 adults and $12 student, senior and military.

Arts Under the Dome scheduled for Saturday

The Gulfport concert series Arts Under the Dome will feature violin and guitar duo Duo del Sol on Saturday at 7 p.m.

Duo del Sol's music is a fusion of Latin, classical, rock, jazz and traditional world folk.

The venue is First United Methodist Church on 15th Street in downtown Gulfport.

Civil rights exhibit is in Pass Christian through April

Pass Christian Public Library, 111 Hiern Ave., will feature "Stand Up -- Mississippi Freedom Summer of 1964" and companion exhibit "Murder in Neshoba" through April 22.

"Stand Up -- Mississippi Freedom Summer of 1964" is about the threats, arrests, beatings, bombings and murders during the civil rights movement.

"Murder in Neshoba" examines the disappearance and murder of three civil rights workers in Neshoba County.

This traveling exhibit was produced by the Museum Division of Mississippi Department of Archives and History.

It is accompanied by historic film footage in 1964 and a collection of primary source documents related to Freedom Summer.

The exhibit will be open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday. Details: 452-4596.

Center Stage begins auditions on Monday

Center Stage, 2670 Rue Palafox, Biloxi, will hold auditions for "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum," which is scheduled for July.

The audition is open to experienced or new actors.

Auditionees should bring a short piece of music and an accompanist will be available.
