Pass Christian High artists have display at library

The Pass Christian High School Art Club has its art on display in the conference room of the Pass Christian Public Library, during regular library hours, through Jan. 14.

The club is sponsored by Pass High art teacher Ann Adele Nettles.

Nettles receives grant to train potter

Pass Christian Master Potter Brian Nettles was awarded a Folk Art Grant from the Mississippi Arts Commission in Jackson to take on a apprentice over the course of a year, training potter Joe Geil in the art of pottery making. During the apprenticeship, Nettles mentored and oversaw Geil in building a wood fired pottery kiln as well as training him on the potters wheel, glaze formulation, business planning and marketing.

Gulfport Little Theatre offers winter classes

The 2016 Winter Theatre Arts Programs offer 10 weekly classes in acting and musical theater taught by Gulfport Little Theatre director Cal Walters.

Stage I classes are for ages 6-11 and are $150 per trimester. Classes are from 5 to 6 p.m. Mondays, beginning Jan. 11.

Stage II classes are for ages 12-19 and are $195 per trimester. Classes are from 5 to 6:15 p.m. Thursdays, beginning Jan. 14.

Individual acting instruction also is offered.
