Deadline is Jan. 14 for Celebrate the Gulf poster contest
The deadline to enter the Celebrate the Gulf Marine Education Festival's second annual poster contest is 5 p.m. Jan. 14.
Amateur and professional artists, age 13 or older, are encouraged to submit an original poster design that depicts the conservation or scenic qualities of Mississippi's coastal resources. The winning artist will receive $250 and 10 posters.
Celebrate the Gulf is put on by the Mississippi Department of Marine Resources and is held in conjunction with Art in the Pass. This year's event will be April 2 at War Memorial Park in Pass Christian.

B.Y.O. Brush Studio offers classes, workshops
B.Y.O. Brush Studio, 1204 Bienville Blvd., Ocean Springs, will hold a variety of classes and workshops in November and December. Programs include: Grinch, Burlap Door Hangers, Pet Portraits and Thanksgiving Art Camp for Kids.

WAMA announces scholarship competition
The Walter Anderson Museum of Art in Ocean Springs will offer its annual WAMA Scholarship for graduating seniors. Submissions and essays are due by Feb. 26. A reception will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. March 23, when two winners will be announced.
The first-place winner will receive a $1,000 scholarship and the second-place winner will receive a $500 scholarship. Community donations fund these scholarships. To donate, get details from Linda Rosetti at The Pink Rooster, 622 Washington Ave.

Bay St. Louis Little Theatre presents 'On Golden Pond'

Winners of Artists Vocal Competition announced
The Gulf Coast Messiah Chorus sponsored its fourth annual Young Artists Vocal Competition at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, Jefferson Davis campus. Scholarships totaling $4,200 were presented to the singers.
Contestants who received scholarships to further their musical education were Jess Davis from Gulfport High School and Kama Koehn of St. Martin High School. Contestants chosen to be featured soloists, as well as recipients of scholarships, were Murakami Carpenter, a student at the University of Southern Mississippi; and Lauren Roosa-Wise, Olivia Russell and Tessa Crump, all students at MGCCC's Perkinston campus. Roosa-Wise and Russell were voted Audience Favorites.
