Twerking, cars, music and more on tap at Coast Coliseum for Black Beach Weekend

Biloxi Black Beach Weekend at the Coast Coliseum in Biloxi kicks off Friday with Twerk Fest 3 and runs through Sunday.

Maurice Bryant, organizer of the weekend for the third consecutive year, is local and said he feels he has put together a package that raises the appeal of the gathering by giving vacationers organized entertainment options.

"I was around when it wasn't that organized, and I wanted to have a place people could park to get cars off the road and make it affordable where people can take part," he said. "The numbers for the car show are great, and it gives people something to do each day."

He said the increase in interest since 2013 shows in this year's hotel bookings with participants coming from as far away as California and Hawaii.

Those who attend will have a full weekend of entertainment, beginning Friday night at the Coast Coliseum with Twerk Fest 3, which will be hosted by one of the pioneers of twerking, the "Queen of Twerk" Lady Luscious.

Performing will be 9th Ward Judy, Gotti Boy Chris, BJ SO Cole and Shardaysa Jones.

Also featured will be "The Only DJ That Dance" DJ Ipod, along with DJ Jusay, DJ J-Rock and Dray Dolla. Doors will open at 9 p.m.

Tickets are $25 and $45 and are available at the Coliseum box office, at Ticketmaster.com or by calling 1-800-745-3000.

On Saturday, the gates will open at 10 a.m., and the Coliseum will feature a car and motorcycle show with cash prizes, starting at 3 p.m. Coliseum parking during the weekend will be $20 per car, which includes admission. Admission for those not parking on the grounds is $10. Registration at the gate is $45 to enter a car into the competition. The show also will feature a sound competition.

Live music hosted by Dray Dolla will begin at 3 p.m. Acts were not announced at press time. At 4, the fun will feature the Beach Towel Throwdown, Bikini Bull Riding and the Springs Break Splash Tank.

Saturday's bikini contest will begin at 6. Registration for the contest is $25 and first prize is $500.

Saturday night's Spring Fest concert, presented by We Do It Ent., will feature Future, Plies, Yo Gotti, Tory Lanez, and Rich Homie Quan. Doors open at 7. Music starts at 8.

Tickets are $39, $68, $83 and $118 and are available at the box office or through Ticketmaster.

On Sunday, a grand finale pool party will be held at Cabana Beach Bar & Grill, 315 Courthouse Road, Gulfport, from noon to 8 p.m. Tickets start at $21.49 at www.Event brite.com. Participants must be at least 18 to attend and at least 21 s to drink.

Coliseum parking during the weekend will be $20 per car, which includes admission. Admission for those not parking on the grounds is $10.
