Chandeleur Brewing Company started about a year ago with fours beers, only released in kegs. They've since expanded into canning beers, as well as adding numerous beers to their releases, and Saturday they want to celebrate with ChandyFest.
The event will be held at their location at 2711 14th St. in Gulfport. ChandyFest is free to attend. It will start at noon and last until the fun stops.
ChandyFest will feature local bands Party at the Moontower, Right Lane Bandits, Blackwater Brass with special appearances by Hadley Hill. Additionally, the event will include a hot wing eating competition hosted by Murky Waters BBQ. The wing eating competition will start at 2:30 p.m. and cost $25 to enter. Whomever consumes the most wings in 12 minutes will win.
A crawfish speed eating competition will be sponsored by Sac-A-Lait restaurant from New Orleans. Additional food vendors include Half Shell Oyster House, Corks and Cleaver, Tony's Pizza, Mosaic's, Hot Tails Crawfish and Pop's Bros. Popsicles.
Perhaps most exciting to Coast beer drinkers will be an early taste of the first-year anniversary beer, called Big Smack IPA. This beer, the Double IPA version of their Lil' Smack IPA, is a massive IPA made with large amounts of American and Australian hops with orange blossom honey added for depth.
"This beer is going to be huge, I'm not a huge IPA drinker, and I've tried some over the past couple of days and it is delicious," said Corey Page, official purveyor of fun at Chandelier Brewing Company.
Beer drinkers will also be treated to Chandeleur's year round line-up as well as seasonal offerings such as New Harbor Honey pale ale and their Bourbon barrel aged stout. Specialty ChandyFest Firkins will be tapped as well.
And, fear not, mothers and fathers, children's entertainment will include Kids Zone, sponsored by Hands On Mississippi. The Kids Zone will feature a bounce house, numerous games and face painting.
The day-long festival has already received over 30,00 likes on Facebook, so Chandeleur Brewing is expecting a lot of fun. "This is the largest event we've ever hosted. We're expecting a lot of people," Page said.
