Olivia Wilde Steps Out to Promote New Film But Instead Sparks Health Concern Buzz
Olivia Wilde is getting a lot of attention right now, but not entirely for her new movie.
Last week, the actress-turned director stepped out to promote her new film,The Invite, which she directs and stars in, but instead of getting attention for the comedy due out this June, much of the discourse shifted to Wilde's appearance, with fans debating how different she has looked during her recent public outings.
Wilde's film opened the San Francisco International Film Festival on April 25. While walking the red carpet, she spoke with reporters, including SF Gate. While she discussed her new project's connection to the city. Wilde wore a simple white tee with a voluminous high-low black midi skirt, with her hair pulled back into a half-up style and glam that accentuated her light-blue eyes.
"I think we really took advantage of everything that I love so much about this city," Wilde said on the red carpet before the screening. "It's such an incredible cultural melting pot, and you can feel that. It sets the tone for our film."
Fans took to social media to react, with some jumping to conclusions that the star is on weight loss drugs like Ozempic, and others pushing back on the conversation entirely or attributing the reaction to camera angles and lighting. Here's a sampling of the comments online.
"Omg. What happened to her? She looks malnourished."
"The cameraman really doing a disservice here."
"I see the camera man is using the '[husband], can you take a picture of me?' angle."
"The camaraman is a Jason Sudeikis fan."
"Ozempic has taken that town over !"
"It's not just the camera angle It's also ozempic."
"She is so beautiful but she doesn't look healthy. I hope she is okay ♥️."
In recent weeks, Wilde's public appearances have repeatedly sparked similar buzz online. Attending the Fashion Trust U.S. Awards 2026 held at Nya StudiosWest on April 7, the Don't Worry Darling helmer looked California cool in a white bralette, black skirt, and black jacket she wore off her shoulders. While in March, the O.C. alum rocked a sleek black catsuit with an extreme plunging neckline during a night out at Paris Fashion Week.
As anticipation builds for The Invite, the conversation around Wilde continues to extend beyond her work - fueling an ongoing cycle of attention around her public image.
