Greta Gerwig's 'Narnia' to get wide theatrical, IMAX release next year
May 1 (Reuters) - Netflix on Friday said filmmaker Greta Gerwig's "Narnia: The Magician's Nephew" will release in IMAX and wide globally in theaters in February 2027 and on the Netflix platform in April that year.
Written and directed by Gerwig, who also made "Barbie" in 2023, the origin story for Narnia is the first-ever adaptation of Lewis's The Magician's Nephew, which was published in May 2, 1955.
Offering a film in wide release in theaters worldwide, where it will play exclusively for more than 45 days, is a first for Netflix.
