Daniel Stallworth announces hometown concert, calls it a ‘dream come true’
Daniel Stallworth’s next performance won’t be on “American Idol,” as we learned Monday night.
It will be Tuesday. And it will be in Moss Point.
The South Mississippi native, whose three-month journey on the reality television singing competition saw him finish in the final seven, announced Wednesday that his next performance will be in his hometown.
“This is a dream come true,” Stallworth said on a social media livestream. “I told God that even if I don’t get the win on the show, I want to be able to come home and do a concert for my people.”
The location and time of the show are still to be determined, Stallworth said, but he added that the performance would be outside.
“Everybody who has been rocking with me, everybody who knows me ... everybody who has been supporting me, I want to see everybody,” Stallworth said. “I want to see all of my people. I want to take as many pictures as possible.”
The Moss Point High School graduate survived three judges’ votes on “American Idol” and five live votes from the show’s viewers. The night he was eliminated, he had received a standing ovation from the show’s judges, audience and fellow contestants.
The next group with a chance to celebrate his success will be his fans in South Mississippi.
“Y’all have helped me through this journey, and I’m so incredibly grateful for everyone who has supported me,” Stallworth said. “It’s one thing for me to be on ‘American Idol’ and on the stage and singing to people I don’t know. It’s another thing for me to come home and sing to people I’ve been singing to my whole life.”
