Tom Bateman to star in 'The Woods' series based on Harlan Coben novel

April 29 (UPI) -- Tom Bateman and Michelle Keegan will star in Netflix's new Harlan Coben series.

The streaming service announced Wednesday that it is adapting Coben's 2007 novel, The Woods, as an eight-episode limited series.

The Woods is written by Danny Brocklehurst, who previously adapted Coben's Fool Me Once, Stay Close and Run Away for Netflix. Coben created the new series and will serve as an executive producer.

Bateman plays Paul "Cope" Copeland, a lawyer and single father whose sister Camille vanished from a summer camp in the woods 20 years ago, while Keegan portrays Lucy Silverfield, Cope's first love who helps him investigate possible new leads into Camille's disappearance.

"Harlan Coben's shows are always such gripping events, so the opportunity to be part of his world is really exciting," Bateman told Netflix's Tudum.

Other cast members include Mandeep Dhillon, Pearce Quigley, Rade Sherbedgia, James Buckley and Shannon Watson.

The Woods is now in production in Britain. Netflix has yet to announce a release date.
