“American Idol” winner Jamal Roberts is embarking on a world tour that will take him across the U.S. and abroad, and he’s bringing it home with a concert in South Mississippi.

The Meridian native and last year’s winner of “American Idol” Season 23 will play The Sound Amphitheater in Gautier, in addition to dozens of stops in North America, Europe and Australia.

“Mississippi’s own ‘American Idol’ winner and Grammy-nominated artist Jamal Roberts is coming to The Sound Amphitheater on April 12,” the city announced. As owner of the venue, Gautier is putting on the concert and using Tix for ticket sales, since the company has fewer fees.

Tickets start at $45 and VIP tickets are available.

Local bands Unfazed Show & Band and Party at the Moontower will open for Roberts that night.

Soon after he won “American Idol,” Roberts celebrated last year with a concert at Ground Zero Blues Club in downtown Biloxi. It was a quick sellout.

He has since released a single “Still” with Gospel artist Jonathan McReynolds and received his first Grammy nomination for Best Gospel Performance/Song (Live).
