MS Coast TikTok stars stand with Bud Light and the trans community. Here’s their take.

Two Mississippi Coast TikTok stars who reach millions of people each month have taken a firm stance in support of Bud Light beer and the transgender community.

Caroline Davis and Matthew Bounds, of Bay St. Louis and Gulfport respectively, invite TikTok and Instagram users from across the U.S. into their home kitchens as they try new food recipes and make up concoctions of their own.

Davis, who is known as Mississippi_Kween, calls the videos she produces her “fake cooking show” and she’s published two recipe books and is sponsored by many, including Walmart.

Bounds, or yourbarefootneighbor, just published his first recipe book and learned to cook during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The two cooks have become friends, and last week both published videos drinking Bud Light while cooking dinner in the aftermath of Anheiser-Busch’s new campaign that features a can with pronouns and a rainbow.

Davis is essentially wearing rainbow everything, including a shirt that says “Y’ALL” across it in red, orange, yellow, green blue and purple. She takes a giant gulp of Bud Light while making a chicken and broccoli slow cooker dish with Campbell’s soup products.

Bounds, who painted his nails in the colors of the trans flag, also drank a beer and left a text note at the end of his chicken etoufee segment: “Y’all come on, fix you a plate,” he wrote, “unless you’re more upset about beer can designs than kids’ safety at school.”

Controversy erupted after Bud Light’s can and a partnership with trans influencer Dylan Mulvaney was announced. Bud Light’s parent company has long supported the LGBTQIA community.

Conservative celebrities and singers have also spoken out against the campaign. Kid Rock posted a video of himself shooting Bud Light cans, and Travis Tritt banned the beer from his tour. He’ll be at the IP Casino in Biloxi on May 26.

Bud Light also received praise and support, including from many in the LGBTQ+ community. Davis and Bounds both received overwhelming praise from their TikTok followers.

Since rocketing to social media stardom, Bounds and Davis have also given back to the Coast communities. Both competed in a cooking competition for charity and Davis started a campaign last year to buy Christmas gifts for needy children in Hancock County schools. She also works with King’s Kitchen food bank for homeless people in Bay St. Louis.
