Two Mississippi Coast women are one step closer to winning Inked Magazine’s cover girl search and $25,000.

Tia Dickerson of Biloxi and Kristie Lynn McCready of Gulfport coasted through the first five rounds of the competition, winning first place in their respective groups every week.

Inked Magazine officials told the Sun Herald the competition started five weeks ago with 1,700 groups of 47 contestants each. The votes the women collected through each winning round rolled over to the next week, giving them an advantage against the dwindling list of 47 competitors.

But this week, everyone started back at zero and every competitor left in the competition knows what it is to be in first place. Like Dickerson and McCready, they each had to be the best of their group to advance.

As of Monday afternoon, the first day of voting, McCready was in second place of her group of 14 quarterfinalists and Dickerson was in first place of a separate group of 14.

Voting in the quarterfinals ends Thursday, March 30. First-place finishers of each group will advance to the semifinals and voting for finalists will resume Friday, March 31, through Thursday, April 6. Once again, votes will reset to zero.

To help McCready and Dickerson make it through their toughest rounds to date, you can vote once for free every 24 hours or buy up to 250 votes at a dollar a vote. The money helps support MusiCares, a nonprofit that provides services and resources to professional musicians in need.
