‘I’m with Hallmark.’ Lacey Chabert speaks as other celebs move to more conservative network
Lacey Chabert is with Hallmark, and she’s not going anywhere.
The famous actress and South Mississippi native signed a contract with the channel in February 2022 and has starred and served as executive producer for many made-for-TV movies. She also recently told Vulture that she wants to bring Hallmark to Purvis to film a movie about her small hometown.
Chabert, who played Gretchen Wieners in the cult classic “Mean Girls” and briefly voiced Meg Griffin on “Family Guy,” also opened up about the recent celebrity departure from Hallmark Channel to the more conservative Great American Family Channel.
The actress told Vulture she sees herself being a “lifer” at Hallmark. When asked if Great American Family tried to poach her, Chabert said “I’m with Hallmark, and I work for them. I’m so sorry, but I’ll just have to leave it at that.”
“Full House” star Candace Cameron Bure was one of the people who left Hallmark, telling the Wall Street Journal she wanted to put Christianity back in Christmas movies, adding that the Hallmark network “completely changed” under new leadership.
And while Chabert wished Bure and the others who left well, she said she’s standing with Hallmark.
“Any shift I’ve felt has been embracing our creative ideas,” Chabert told Vulture. “And it’s my responsibility to the audience who continue to tune into my movies that I give the best I have to offer. That’s always my mission. I’ll never abandon what Hallmark means for me, which is that everything is centered around the heart. I don’t think there are any plans for that to change anytime soon.”
