Seafood Fest, Jurassic Quest: Dozens of events planned this weekend across the MS Coast

It’s a busy weekend of events for all ages across South Mississippi.

Seafood is what’s for lunch and dinner this weekend as the Biloxi Chamber of Commerce presents the 41st annual Biloxi Seafood Festival Saturday and Sunday at the Biloxi Town Green, across from Hard Rock Casino.

Shrimp, crab and lots of other seafood, along with burgers and other foods for landlubbers, will be sold at booths and food tents. Those who attend can browse the arts and crafts tents and listen and dance to the music.

The event is Saturday from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Admission is $5, or $4 for military members and is free for kids 12 and under.

Another highlight is Boogie Night Back to the Eighties FUNdraiser Friday from 6:30 to 11 p.m. at Lynn Meadows Discovery Center, 246 Dolan Ave., Gulfport.

A DeLorean car will be transformed into a time machine to take participants back to relive the favorite tunes from the ‘80s, along with a costume contest, silent auction and sweet food and drink.

More than 400 people are expected at the fundraiser for the children’s museum. Admission is $75 per person and $125 per couple

The Biloxi Shuckers are playing their final home games of the season through Sunday against the Mississippi Braves. Games are Tuesday to Saturday at 6:35, Sunday at 5:05 p.m. Tickets start at $7. MGM Park, U.S. 90 and Caillavet Street, Biloxi.

Friday @ The Fort featuring Serabee from 6-8 p.m. at Fort Maurepas Park, 499 Front Beach Drive, Ocean Springs. Bring chairs and blankets.

ZZZ’s by the Sea sleepover at Mississippi Aquarium, 2100 E Beach Blvd, Gulfport. 6:30 p.m.-9:30 a.m. $58.50 Members $65 Non-Members

Night Sky Stargazing at Gulf Islands National Seashore Visitor Center & Campground, 3500 Park Road, Ocean Springs. 7:15-8:15 p.m. Free. Meet in front of the Visitor Center by 7:15 p.m. Bring cameras, blankets, and chairs. Telescopes will be provided by the National Park Service. Registration is encouraged but not required by calling 228-230-4100. Event subject to cancellation due to weather.

Jason Ricci performs at 8 p.m. at Ground Zero Blues Club, 814 Howard Ave., Biloxi. Tickets are $22.50 presale $20, and $27.50 day of show.

Friday-Sunday

Jurassic Quest at Coast Coliseum, U.S. 90, Biloxi with life size animatronic dinosaurs including Apatosaurus, Spinosaurus, T-Rex and a 50 foot long Megalodon. Meet the trainers, baby dinos and watch a live interactive raptor show. Dinosaur rides, giant fossil dig, inflatables, fossil science exhibit, “Triceratots” soft play area. Friday and Saturday 9 a.m.-8 p.m. Sunday 9 a.m.-5 p.m. $22 adults/children 2-12, $36 kids unlimited rides, $19 seniors 65 and up. Timed entry slots eliminates crowds.

Saturday

Art Without Walls pop-up art market at 405 Blaize Ave, Bay St Louis. 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

Paw Patrol Meet and Greet with Chase and Marshall from Paw Patrol, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. in front of Dillard’s, Edgewater Mall, U.S 90, Biloxi. Free event.

Teddy Bears on Patrol drive-thru donations 11 a.m.-2 p.m. behind Newk’s and AT&T at The Promenade in D’Iberville. Donate a new or gently used Teddy bear to be used by Mississippi Highway Patrol Troop K during incidents where youth are involved. Each bear is checked for cleanliness and tagged with a message of comfort.

Bud & Burgers in the Bay presented from 1-5 p.m. by Mitchell Distributing at Our Lady of the Gulf Church, 228 South Beach Blvd., Bay St. Louis. Cooking competition, music, $10 admission lets you sample burgers from participating teams. Benefits OLG Church.

Blues & Heritage Festival at Jackson County Fairgrounds, 2902 Shortcut Road, Pascagoula. Music begins at 2 p.m. Tickets start at $25. One of the top blues festivals on the Coast. Food and cultural exhibits.

Jeeps for Tunnels to Towers at Margaritaville Resort Biloxi. Jeeps will line the Biloxi Bay Bridge for the Tunnels to Towers run. Line up will start at 3 p.m. to show support and cheer the runners.

Second Saturday Artwalk from 4-8 p.m. on Main St., Bay St Louis. Gallery openings, shop and restaurant specials and live music.

Tunnel to Towers 5K Run & Walk at 5 p.m. at Margaritaville Resort Biloxi, 195 Beach Blvd. Honors FDNY first responders who lost their lives on Sept. 11, 2001, and military heroes.

Meet The Spirits of Beauvoir, 2244 Beach Blvd., Biloxi, 6 p.m.-midnight. $30 cash. Registration at 6:00 p.m. in the library auditorium. Registration and orientation are complete, followed by the paranormal investigation. Some locations are outside, so dress appropriately. Refreshments available for small cost. Bring cash.

Lynyrd Skynyrd: Big Wheels Keep on Turnin’ Tour with special guests 38 Special at 7 p.m., Coast Coliseum, 2350 Beach Blvd., Biloxi. Tickets start at $25.50.

Sunday

Tuesday

Chapel Hart watch party for America’s Got Talent Finals at Dobie Holden Stadium in Poplarville. Gates open at 6 and the television show broadcast is from 7-9 p.m. Several Pearl River Community College student groups will be there to help cheer on and vote for the hometown contestants. A tailgate area will be set up in the south end zone and fans can sit in the stands or bring lawn chairs and blankets. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. PRCC is an alcohol and tobacco-free campus. Concessions can be purchased with cash only and Chapel Hart merchandise will be available for purchase.

Ship Island Excursions — Round trip service to Ship Island is offered, along with weekend dolphin cruises and sunset cocktail cruises that depart from Gulfport Harbor off U.S. 90 at the foot of U.S. 49 in Gulfport.

Dinosaurs Around the World:The Great Outdoors exhibit at Mississippi Aquarium 10 a.m.-5 p.m. thru Oct. 2. Ten life-sized, animatronic dinosaurs plus dino-themed crafts and activities. Adults $29.95 Children $24.95 Seniors $26.95

Haunted Bayou Cruise and Ghost and Cemetery Pub Walk at Bay St. Louis. Tickets must be purchased in advance at 228-363-9533.

Davis Bayou Kayak Program 10 a.m.-noon Saturdays thru Oct. 1 at Gulf Islands National Seashore, 3500 Park Road, Ocean Springs. Meet at the Davis Bayou public boat launch. One- and two-person kayaks and safety gear are provided free. A liability waiver is required. Must be able to row. Pets are not allowed on the kayaks..

Rumble on the Gulf, 5-9 p.m. Thursdays until Oct. 6 at Silver Slipper Casino, Hancock County. Motorcycles, jeeps, hot rods, antique and classic cars. Free.
