What to do on the MS Coast this weekend: Summer Fair, Billfish Classic, casino shows
The rides will be spinning, the music playing and the food cooking at Summer Fair at the Coast Coliseum in Biloxi.
It’s a time for making memories June 9-19, with rides, live music, shows and contests. Opening day on Thursday is a favorite for families whose kids love the rides, since tickets are only $2 per ride. Bands for unlimited rides cost $25-$30 through the weekend.
Other highlights this weekend are Sand Jam Saturday in Pascagoula, where turtles are celebrated, and the Mississippi Gulf Coast Billfish Classic that draws some of the best anglers in the country to Biloxi to compete for $2 million in cash and prizes. A crowd gathers outside Golden Nugget Casino Biloxi to see the weighing of their catches.

Thursday
Carl Fest honoring the life and legend of Carl the Rooster — the unofficial mascot of Ocean Springs — 5 p.m., Walter Anderson Museum of Art, 510 Washington St., Ocean Springs. Carl Jr. pop up art show, music, food, markers market with Carl-inspired art from local creators.
Art reception for Coast artist JJ Foley 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Greenhouse Biloxi, 152 GE Ohr St. Biloxi. Klight snacks. Coffee, cocktails and wine will be available.
Bored Teachers Comedy Tour at 8 p.m. at Hard Rock Casino Biloxi. Tickets start at $30.
Saturday
Chevron Women’s Network Charity 5k & 1 Mile Run/Walk at Pascagoula Beach Park. 5k starts at 8 a.m. and 1 mile run/walk at 8:45 a.m.
Sand Jam 2022 “Turtle Up Mississippi!” from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at Pascagoula Beach Park. Celebration of Mississippi’s native wildlife and habitats with 20 activity booths, live turtle ambassadors, kayaking, fishing for children 15 and under, a turtle art competition for all ages, beach games, NOAA’s Turtle Hurdle, giveaways. Free
Art Without Walls, a pop-up art market, open to members of The Arts, Hancock County. 10 a.m.-5 p.m. at 405 Blaize Ave., Bay St Louis. Bring a table or tent for a 10x10 space.
Garifuana Festival in the Pass at from 6-9 p.m. at city hall, 111 Hiern Avenue, Pass Christian. Learn about the Caribbean people with a screening of director’s selects from the upcoming documentary “Anichugu: Our Garifuna Story,” followed by food, music and a fashion show in the courtyard. Free’
Shaun Cassidy performs at 8 p.m. at Island View Casino, Gulfport. $30 general admission.

June 6-12 — Mississippi Gulf Coast Billfish Classic at Golden Nugget Biloxi, 119 Beach Blvd, Biloxi. Anglers from across the country compete for $2 million in cash and prizes. Live entertainment for the spectators at the weigh scales Friday and Saturday evenings.
June 7-12 — Biloxi Shuckers Minor League Baseball team plays the Tennessee Smokies at MGM Park, Biloxi. Tuesday-Saturday at 6:35 p.m. and Sunday at 5:05 p.m. Tickets start at $7
June 9-19 — Summer Fair at Coast Coliseum, Biloxi. Music, rides, vendors, food.
June 11-12 — National Outlet Shopping Day at Gulfport Premium Outlets. Ultimate Power Shopper Giveaway all weekend and $75,000 grand prize including an electric vehicle from VinFast and a $20,000 shopping spree. Food trucks.

Wednesdays and Thursdays — Summer Kids Fest movie series at Premiere Cinema, Edgewater Mall, Biloxi. Free movies from 10-11 a.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays during the summer. June 15-16 movie is “Sonic the Hedgehog.”
