Bello Nock’s show is back in Biloxi after being ‘discovered’ by America’s Got Talent fans
Bello Nock is back at the Beau Rivage Resort & Casino in Biloxi, leading an international cast of aerialists and acrobats in this summer’s show of daring skill and a little comedy to ease the drama.
“Funumbula” runs May 28 to June 23 at the Beau Rivage before the show travels to two other MGM casino resorts — the Borgata in Atlantic City and MGM National Harbor near Washington, D.C.
Misha Matorin, who has produced a DreamCast show at the Beau Rivage every summer since 2003 — with a few years off following Hurricane Katrina and during the coronavirus pandemic — returns with Bello and the cast.
Funumbula means “rope dancer,” said Mary Cracchiolo Spain, regional director of public relations at Beau Rivage.
Those who attend one of 32 shows at the Beau Rivage Theater will see favorite acts like the tight rope, Wheel of Destiny, Motorcycle Glow, jugglers and the strong man, she said.
Bello’s fame soars
To the rest of the world, Bello is known for his comedy, daring and stand-up strawberry blonde hair.
In Biloxi, he is acclaimed as the daredevil who walked a high wire across the front of the Beau Rivage in 2012 and followed that the next year hung by dangling by one foot beneath a helicopter flying over the city.
This is his first return to the Beau Rivage since 2016, after his scheduled 2020 show was canceled by the coronavirus.
A lot has happened in those six years.
A seventh generation circus performer, Bello elicited a “He is nuts,” from judge Simon Cowell on America’s Got Talent in 2017. That observation came before Bello was shot out of a cannon, flew over spinning helicopter blades and landed on the bullseye mat.
He and his equally daring daughter Annaliese Nock challenged the Wheel of Death on Britain’s Got Talent.
“Daredaughter” Annaliese, the eighth generation circus performer in the family, wowed the judges on subsequent seasons of America’s Got Talent with dynamite and other stunts and is starring in her own show this summer.
