The show must go on: Wynonna will bring final tour to Biloxi in tribute to Naomi Judd

What was to be “The Final Tour” of mother-daughter duo The Judds now will go on as a tribute by Wynonna Judd to her mother, Naomi Judd, who died April 30.

“We understand that the show will still play on Oct. 27,” said Matt McDonnell, executive director of the Coast Coliseum in Biloxi.

Biloxi is one of only 10 stops announced on the tour that features Martina McBride and ends the next night at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville.

McDonnell said he got a phone call Saturday saying the tour will be held and guest celebrities will be on the bill with Wynonna. He was not given the names of the celebrities who might join her in Biloxi, he said.

In a press release, the Coliseum announced Wynonna will welcome a special guests on stage each night of the tour, including Brandi Carlile,Little Big Town, McBride, Ashley McBryde, Trisha Yearwood and others to be announced.

An 11th concert has been added and Faith Hill will join Wynonna onstage at Rupp Arena in Lexington, Kentucky, where the Judds began.

Ticket sales were suspended after Naomi’s passing, and McDonnell said fans can again buy tickets to the Biloxi show through Ticketmaster and at the Coast Coliseum box office.

Wynonna announced on CMT Sunday that she will continue the 10-date tour.

“What I’m looking forward to most is celebrating Judd music with the fans..” Wynonna said in a statement, according to CMT. “Mom and I have had quite the journey over the last 38 years, and the fans have been with us through it all. This tour is a celebration for them.”

Among their top hits are “Girls Night Out,” “Why Not Me” and “Love Can Build a Bridge.”

The doors open at 6 p.m. and the concert is at 7 p.m.

Alan Jackson Last Call — One More For The Road tour comes to the Coast Coliseum June 24, and Luke Bryan plays Biloxi Oct. 13.
