If you are near downtown Gulfport and hear loud popping noises, don’t panic.

“Hard Matter,” a new movie filming on the Coast, is using the area near City Hall as a backdrop on Wednesday, the city said in a Facebook post.

The action thriller starring Harvey Keitel and Frank Grillo is set in a dystopian America where a corporation has taken over the prison system and turned criminals into law enforcers that “carry out all forms of capital punishment in order to regain their place in society.”

The movie is produced, written and directed by Justin Price. This is Price’s second directing credit and first written film. He previously directed “Almost Amazing” in 2017.

The film is also being produced by Wonderfilm’s Jeff Bowler and Bret Saxon, and Latavius Powel.

The Oscar nominated Keitel is best known for his collaborations with Quentin Tarantino in “Pulp Fiction” and “Reservoir Dogs.” He was nominated for Best Actor in a Supporting Role in 1991 for his performance in “Bugsy.”

Grillo, 56, has played supporting roles in the “Captain America” and “Purge” franchises. His most recent performance was playing automotive legend Ferruccio Lamborghini in the biopic “Lamborghini.”
