Comedian Tig Notaro swings by the Mississippi Coast after New Orleans performance
Mississippi native and stand-up comedian Tig Notaro was spotted along the Coast this week after performing in New Orleans.
The first spotting came at Makin’ Groceries, a vegan café in Biloxi on Feb. 23 and was posted to the restaurant’s Facebook page.
Notaro is seen in a black T-shirt, blue pants and a white button down.
She was later seen wearing a black mask and white button down as she browsed the shelves of Pass Christian Books, near where she was staying with family. Notaro was wearing a 100 Men Hall D.B.A T-shirt under the button down.
The Hall is a historic Blues club that has hosted Black musicians for decades.
Notaro was born in Jackson and previously got married in Pass Christian. She talked about her relationship with the South as an LGBTQ person with the Sun Herald on the “Out Here in America” podcast.
The wedding seven years ago brought celebrities such as Sarah Silverman and Alicia Silverstone to the Coast.
Her second album, Live, was nominated for Best Comedy Album at the 56th Annual Grammy Awards. She was also nominated for a Primetime Emmy for her stand-up special “Tig Notaro: Boyish Girl Interrupted.”
She also had a show on Amazon Prime that ran for two seasons called “One Mississippi,” inspired by her life growing up in the south.
Her visit to the Coast was just for a couple days, as she has already made her way to Dallas where she performs Friday at The Majestic Theater.
