The 2018 New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival day-to-day music schedule has been released.
Fans of the festival were eagerly awaiting the roster’s release. Many of the same New Orleans and Louisiana musicians appear year after year, but speculation about the big-name “visiting” acts who will headline the fest’s three largest stages reaches a fever pitch this time of year.
Among the headliners for this year’s event are Aerosmith, Aretha Franklin, Sting, Jimmy Buffett, Lionel Richie, Bonnie Raitt, Khalid, Smokey Robinson, Big Freedia, Irma Thomas, Savion Glover, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Delbert McClinton and more.
Though the festival’s producers try to keep the schedule a secret until the official unveiling, some names invariably leak out. Contemporary soul/R&B singer Anita Baker tweeted on Jan. 2 that she would be among the festival’s headliners; she’ll likely close out one day at the Congo Square Stage.
The published touring itineraries of other artists, including singer-songwriter Jack Johnson, also hint that a Jazz Fest stop is likely.
Jazz Fest draws tens of thousands of attendees from all over the world on each of its seven days at the Fair Grounds race course.
The 49th edition of what is officially the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival presented by Shell is April 27-29 and May 3-6, 2018.
Tickets for the event can be found at the Jazz Fest website.
