Christmas City returns to Biloxi

The Coast Coliseum Convention Center in Biloxi will be transformed into a winter wonderland this weekend as Ron Meyers’ Christmas City returns for its 34th year.

The event offers a carefully-selected array of potential Christmas gifts in a setting that rings in the Christmas season.

Meyers, producer of the event, said the selection process for vendors is stricter than ever in choosing hand-crafted, unique items from all over the country. This year 40 percent of the exhibitors are new, Meyers said, and the selection process is a large part of Christmas City’s success.

“For the show to go 34 years, it can’t be the same every year,” Meyers said. “It’s always a surprise for customers every year.”

As in year’s past, there will be plenty of jewelry, clothing and kids’ toys offered by more than 300 vendors, but Meyers said there are even more brand-new items this season.

“This year there are a lot of patented items,” Meyers said. “There can only be so much gourmet food and pottery. We don’t want just a jewelry show.”

The event is a six-time designee of the Southeast Tourism Society’s Top 20 Events.

The three-day event begins Friday at 10 a.m. On Friday night, an adults’ only Shoppers Paradise will be held from 6 to 9. Door prizes will be given throughout the evening. Admission is $15 and parking is free.

On each day of Christmas City, the first 50 shoppers will receive a free shopping bag.

Christmas City has accommodations for everyone. Kids can write letters to Santa and for $5 they can have their photo taken with Santa each day. For adults, a sports lounge will offer college football on Saturday and NFL games on Sunday.

General admission hours are Friday 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m.-5:30 p.m., and Sunday 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

Admission is $8 per day. Ages 15 and younger are admitted free. For tickets, visit www.ChristmasCityGiftShow.com.
