Stinkhorn mushrooms are foul smelling hangers-on

The unseasonal warmth combined with a couple of good rains has resulted in a whole lot of mushrooms popping up. In particular, it’s resulted in a lot of stinkhorn mushrooms popping up. As their name suggests, stinkhorns stink. There are three main types that tend to occur down here: the phallic form, dead man’s fingers and Ravenel’s stinkhorn. Of the three, the one I see most often is Ravenel’s.
