Florida State beats Wake Forest

Jermaine Thomas rushed for 149 yards and a touchdown, E.J. Manuel was effective in his first career start, and Florida State kept its bowl hopes alive with a 41-28 victory over Wake Forest on Saturday.

Manuel was 15 of 20 for 220 yards. He threw for a touchdown and ran for another replacing the injured Christian Ponder for the Seminoles (5-5, 3-4), who will qualify for a bowl for a record 28th straight year with a win next week against Maryland.

Wake Forest (4-7, 2-5) lost its fifth straight and was eliminated from bowl contention in a sour final home game for Riley Skinner. Looking to become the first quarterback to start in four wins over Seminoles coach Bobby Bowden, Skinner struggled as the Demon Deacons fell behind 31-7 in the second quarter.

Michigan State 40, Purdue 37: Kirk Cousins threw three touchdown passes, and Michigan State overcame an 11-point fourth-quarter deficit to beat Purdue 40-37 and become bowl eligible on Saturday.

Iowa State 17, Colorado 10: Austen Arnaud threw a pair of touchdown passes and Iowa State beat Colorado 17-10 on Saturday to become bowl eligible for the first time since 2005.

Nebraska 31, Kansas 17: Roy Helu Jr. ran for 156 yards and three touchdowns, helping Nebraska move into a tie atop the Big 12 North with a 31-17 victory over Kansas on Saturday.

Oregon State 48, Washington 21: Jacquizz Rodgers ran for 159 yards, Sean Canfield threw for four touchdowns and Oregon State kept its Rose Bowl hopes alive with an 48-21 win over Washington on Saturday.

Boston College 14, Virginia 10: Dave Shinskie’s 1-yard sneak on fourth down gave Boston College the lead and the Eagles handed Virginia its fourth straight loss Saturday, 14-10.

UCLA 43, Washington State 7: Kevin Prince threw for 314 yards and ran for a touchdown as UCLA beat Washington State 43-7 on Saturday in a showdown of the bottom two teams in the Pacific-10.

Air Force 45, UNLV 17: Asher Clark ran for career highs of three touchdowns and 160 yards for Air Force.
