Purdue knocks off Michigan

Joey Elliott threw for a career-high 367 yards and two touchdowns, ran for a score and Purdue held on for a 38-36 victory against Michigan.

The Boilermakers (4-6, 3-3 Big Ten) trailed by two TDs at halftime and rallied to end their 11-game road losing streak by winning at Michigan Stadium for the first time since 1966.

Michigan melted down in the third quarter again, allowing Purdue to score three touchdowns, including one after an onside kick caught the Wolverines by surprise.

In danger of missing a bowl after a 4-0 start, Michigan had a chance to tie after Brandon Minor’s third TD with 2:10 left, but Tate Forcier was sacked on a 2-point conversion that Michigan was forced to attempt because of a missed extra point.

After Purdue recovered the onside kick, Michigan forced a punt, but went almost nowhere from its own 10, ending the game in a flurry of laterals.

West Virginia 17, Louisville 9: Jarrett Brown threw a touchdown pass but managed little offense and West Virginia struggled to beat Louisville 17-9 on Saturday.

North Carolina State 38, Maryland 31: Russell Wilson threw three touchdowns and ran for another, and North Carolina State snapped a four-game losing streak by holding off Maryland 38-31 on Saturda.

Colorado 35, Texas A&M 34: Tyler Hansen overcame his second-straight eight-sack day to lead Colorado to a 35-34 win over Texas A&M.

Baylor 40, Missouri 32: Freshman Nick Florence passed for a school-record 427 yards and three touchdowns and ran for a fourth, helping Baylor defeat Missouri 40-32 on Saturday.

Air Force 35, Army 7: Kevin Fogler caught a 73-yard TD pass and Anthony Wright returned a punt 88 yards for a score, helping Air Force beat Army for a fourth straight time with a 35-7 victory Saturday.

UCLA 24, Washington 23: Kevin Craft passed for 159 yards in the second half after taking over for injured Kevin Prince, and UCLA made a late defensive stand to snap its five-game losing streak with a 24-23 victory over Washington on Saturday.

North Carolina 19, Duke 6: Ryan Houston ran for a career-high 164 yards and Jheranie Boyd scored the clinching touchdown midway through the fourth quarter to help North Carolina beat Duke 19-6.
