Picayune upsets Wayne County 27-21

Chris Burton’s 21-yard touchdown run was the difference as Picayune upset Wayne County 27-21 on Friday night.

Quarterback Jacob Kennedy threw three touchdown passes for Picayune (8-2). The Maroon Tide host D’Iberville in the first round of the Class 5A state playoffs next week. Jamal Hall also had a touchdown run.

@BR Body bold Lede colon:Stone 31, McComb 20: Darion Arrington ran for more than 150 yards and scored a touchdown as the Tomcats (6-5, 3-4 Region 3-5A) closed their season on a winning note. Clint Hatten threw a touchdown pass to Tyler Holley, while Darius Jones added a fumble return for touchdown. Joey White had a 25-yard field goal.

Philadelphia 38, St. Patrick 0: Brandon Willis ran for 238 yards and scored three touchdowns as the Tornadoes (11-1) rolled to an easy first-round Class 3A playoff victory over the Fighting Irish (3-7). Jeremy Morgan scored twice.

FCAHS 40, West Lauderdale 21: Running back Marqueyus Johnson rushed for 141 yards and two touchdowns as the Aggies advanced to round two of the 4A state playoffs.

West Jones 35, Pearl River Central 7: The Blue Devils (0-11, 0-7 Region 3-5A) ended the season without a victory, their first winless season since 1965. Quarterback Tyler Lee’s 15-yard TD pass to Garret Penton in the third quarter was PRC’s only score.

Vancleave 27, East Central 14: Colin Bray ran for 160 yards and three touchdowns and passed for another TD as the Bulldogs (6-5, 3-4 Region 4-5A) ended with a winning record.

Long Beach 41, West Harrison 13: Quarterback Anthony D’Angelo connected on 11 out of 20 passes for 201 yards and three touchdowns as the Bearcats (5-6, 3-4) clinched fourth place and a playoff berth in Region 4-5A. Milton Britton rushed for 88 yards and one touchdown on four carries and Matt Wallace had one touchdown on three carries. Long Beach faces West Jones in the 5A playoffs next week.

Petal 35, Pascagoula 28: Quarterback Will Tomes threw for 116 yards and a 10-yard touchdown pass to JaMarcus Patton as the Panthers (2-9, 1-6 Region 4-6A) closed their season with a loss on Thursday. Senquez Golson added a 41-yard touchdown run and Major Williams scored from 18 yards out.
